Destruction
of mass
They say that
mass
can never be
destroyed
but what I
have seen
begs to differ
like when
a porcelain
vase is
smashed to
bits
even with the
best efforts
to put it back
together
there will always
be crevasses
outliers
unaccounted for
like bits in your
memory that
you have
forgotten.
We lose
things every
time we move
too – each
move a
smashing.
But with
each smashing
we are leaner.
I have been homeless
for a year now. I
know there are
things I no longer
miss. I am
leaner and
ready for
you. Like
a ritual
cleansing
there is nothing
of my past I
want to
retrieve. Rather
I step forward
all my desires
are focused
in your direction
mass
can never be
destroyed
but what I
have seen
begs to differ
like when
a porcelain
vase is
smashed to
bits
even with the
best efforts
to put it back
together
there will always
be crevasses
